The FAFSA form is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Every student who plans to attend a college or university has to fill out the FAFSA each year they plan to attend.
The FAFSA uses federal income tax information to determine whether a student qualifies for a Pell Grant (federal) or the Missouri Access Grants (state).
Grants do not have to be repaid.
Students MUST use their parents income tax information even if:
they don't get support from their parents.
their parents aren't paying for college.
There are only a few circumstances where a parent's information is not required.
If you don't have your parents' tax information or your parents didn't file taxes, you can fill out the form without their information, but you will not qualify for the financial aid. You will need to call the college/university and see if they will work with you on cost/funding. Mrs. Palmer can help you with this.
The FASFA form normally opens each year on October 1st.
THIS YEAR THE FAFSA WILL OPEN DECEMBER 31ST!!!
Complete the FAFSA as soon as it is available.
Check out this FAFSA Resource: MOFAFSA.org
You will need a FAFSA ID before completing the FAFSA. A student and parent must have their OWN id.

Use a personal email for this. NOT the school's email address.
Complete the FAFSA HERE.
Use your income tax information for the previous year. (EX. You can start the 24-25 FAFSA form in December of 2023. You would use your 2022 taxes for this.)
You want to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. However, the Missouri deadline for completing this is February 1st. The federal deadline is June 30th.
After the FAFSA is completed:
You should receive an email stating the FAFSA has been received.
You can log in to your account to see your Student Aid Report (SAR).
